East Asia has made significant progress in reducing gender inequality within societies, but among ethnic minority communities and in remote areas, women frequently still lack opportunities to participate. In 2016, The World Bank held an international workshop in Vietnam to better understand the role that rural transport operations could play (and were playing) in integrating women into more aspects of society. Our Vietnam-based videographer, Linh, attended the workshop to capture delegates’ views on the importance of gender mainstreaming in project design, and also accompanied them on their field visit to meet female road workers.
