The International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) (African Region branch) is respected and recognised as one of the leading advocacy voices for sexual and reproductive rights in the region. To showcase its valuable work in tackling female genital mutilation and HIV, promoting gender equality and securing wider access to sexual health services and contraception, Sidney, one of our Kenya-based videographers, was commissioned to script, film and edit this 20-minute documentary. He spent time in both Uganda and Kenya to capture footage, and also coordinated with a second videographer who sent in footage from three other countries. Respectful and delicate interviewing skills were required to ensure that the difficult, personal stories told were treated with appropriate sensitivity. The resulting film has been used on IPPF’s social media channels and website to promote and celebrate its work.
