In Chamrajnagar in the South Indian state of Karnataka, disabled children are closing the equality gap with their peers. A partnership between CBM and Mobility India has helped families to establish after-school clubs and self-help groups in 42 villages. In addition to educating parents of their disabled children’s rights, the partnership’s work plan includes training teachers to better accommodate disabled children in their classrooms, and offering loans to families to help them manage the additional costs entailed in responding positively to disability. More importantly, they enable disadvantaged people to take charge of their own lives. Watch to find out more.
